Times of filming
We will be setting our time of filming to be roughly 4pm because it is when it begins to get dark and we want it to be a reasonable time for a girl of the age of 12
To be walking home. We also want it to be gradually getting dark because it fits the mood and genre that our opening 2 minutes will be. Young girl walking
Home alone down a mill pond and a creepy unknown figure appears following
Her we want it to be vague because we want the audience to really pay attention to what's happening in this 2 minutes and the fact they are having focus means they are hooked into the story as they are wanting to find out what will happening next. Another thing is that we want the effect of the street lights to bring effect and we need to pick a time to when they are on.

this is the opening title for the horror/thriller film se7en. The white text on the black background really makes it stands out and appers vivid. Also the text is repeated in the background slightly transparents, giving it an eerie, mysterious look. The bold capitalised font also adds to the effect and the way the number seven has been used in place of the V also makes it look more mysterious. There is a show behinsd it which shows movement which looks dangerous like the letters have been scratchrf

film institutions
20th century fox is a film corporation which is one of the 6 major american film studios. The organisation was founded in 1935 and has become the most recognised film institution in the world. The studio is a subsidiary of new corporation, the media conglomerate owned by rupert murdoch.
some of the most successful films created by 20th century fox are: avater, star wars, speed and the chronicles of narnia.

universal pictures also called universal studios is a subsidiary of NBC universal, and one of the six major movie studios. It was founded in 1912 by carl laemmie, it is one of the oldest american movie studios still in continuous production. Universal pictures creates and distributes theatrical and non- theatrical filmed entertainment. Universal has achieved both popular success and it recent academy award winners: atonement, the bourne ultimatum, king kong, brokeback mountain, ray,a beautiful mind, the pianist, and thlonst in translation. Like 20th century foxm, universal picture prefer to create films focus on drama, romance and adventure such as the lims listed abouve. The reason most of their films are based around this genre is because those genre films are their most successful and they prefer not to risk creatung other genres out of their comfort zone and for than film to then fail.
Warner bros is a global leader in the creation, production, distribution, licensing and marketing of all forms of creative content and their related businesses, across all current and emerging media and platform. warner bros produce and distribute a variety of films in differenet genres such as comedy, romance, fantasy, adventure, action and horror. some of the most popular films created by warner bro fox are: harry potter (producer and distributors), valentines day, sex and the city, the hangover, the dark knight, and slumdog millionaire. warner bros are dedictated to producing a variety of films to suit different types of audience.
examples of uncopyrighted music
here is an example of uncopyright music which i wont be including but will show an understanding of what effect we want the music to do to set the mood of the scene which we are filming for the opening two minutes. The soundtrack will have to bring suspense as this is what usually occurs in horror films to bring tension to the scene and allow the audience to adjust to the fact that something jumpy or scary will gradually appear any second now. Horror film is all about fear of the unknown a mysterious figure thats stalking the victim and we want the right mood of music to bring the effect we are trying to promote.
costume: disappearing little sister
Here is a jumper that she may wear it is optional to the fact of when we will be filming the opening two minutes we want it to fit the weather and dont want to go over board with how much she is wearing.
Here is some trousers which are part of the girls uniform which she may be wearing in the opening two minutes.
This is the therfield school blazer which the little girl will most likely be wearing to the fact of the wearing it will be anothr item of clothing to keep her warm.
This is a blouse which she is wearing as part of her uniform as she had gone from school to her friends and is walking home. She will be dressed properly and smart as she is in the newest year of the school and they always obey to the uniform code.
If she is not wearing the trousers then she will be wearing the therfield skirt.
costume: the pale ones outfit
The costume here is for Reece scottow for his character the pale one. His costume is shown to be smart sophisticated and scary. His costume is a morph outfit which means that you wont be able to see his face which comes across as unusual and confusing which identifies that he is the villain in the film.
props: bag
The bag will be shown in the 2 minutes as the girl is carrying it home as she went to a friends straight from school and is walking home. This wont be the exact bag which will be shown but it will be a similar style bag.
props: mobile phone
here is a prop which will be used in the opening two minutes of the film the pale one. The reason that a mobile phone is a prop in the film is because at the beginning of the opening two minutes the sister rings charlotte and informs her that shes in on her way back from her friends house and she is about to enter the millpond and she will be approximately 15 minutes. This will be only shown for a short period of time.

synopsis
The genre we have chosen is horror and we have decided to call it the pale one as its simple and mysterious title which doesnt reveal much except that there is a figure that is causing pain and violence. It wont be much blood and gorey as it means that the age certificate will have to be an 18 instead of a 15 and we want it to appeal to our age range as we know what our age is interested in and what will bring the audience in.
The sister is walking home at night time and makes a quick phone call to her sister to inform here that she is coming home. When she ends the phone call she carrys on walking but feels that someone is there she turns around but there is no one she picks up the pace and moves quick. She then hears sounds which make her paranoid and as she about to leave the millpond she turns and screams and the scene changes to her sister getting a phone call for the disappearance of her sister. Then one year later is where the story begins.
we have a female main character which is going to be ages around 16/17 years old which means that the male audience will be interested in it seeing a teenaged female in fear and becoming vunerable. It will also appeal to female audience as they can learn and understand what she is going through and can bring emotion to the story.
The female character is called charlotte and she has had a tough year her mother isnt very good at parenting and doesnt take much notice in her shes different from everyone in her college and like to be with her sister but she lost her sister mysteriously out of the blue one day when she was walking home from school there was no body found and they assumed that she had been killed and the police are scattered all over the area searching for the killer and everywhere she looks it reminds her of the loved one that she lost.
Since this events her family and life has fallen apart she assumes that she is dead but through the course but still has hope and tries her hardest to find another solution to what happened. so during the film it begins to reveal what really happened to her sister by watching charlotte scan everything of her sister to see if she can find any clues to why it happened but when she find images and objects a unrecognised figure begins to appear reasonably alot which will bring a bit more tension to the film. Through the course people are vanishing and people are starting to lose there minds, the fact that the police are distracted they arent focusing on the locals and slowly and randomly the population begin to decrease

This age certificate is shown to be 18 or older and its is coloured red to make it bold and stand out to show audiences that its there for a reason it stating this age. The can be sexual scene which are very revealing and may disturb certain people. There could be flashing images and violence which may be dangerous to people with epilespy and violence may scare young children.
age certificate
another reason to why we have chosen to set the age certificate to 15 is because through my research of audience and our genre which we had chosen most age ranges is between 15-24 and want to appeal to the youngest age we can grab so we have a larger audience that it will appeal to obviously to the extent below 15 we cannot do as it may cause disturbance and may be inappropriate aswell it may scare younger years as we will have violence and jumping scenes throughout the film as they may occur straight away and be seen in the opening 2 minutes

setting: millpond
Friday, 30 November 2012
considered actors: connor musoke jones
connor will be appearing the opening two minutes as a news reporter this is an idea and may not appear as we dont want to drag it on too much as we dont have much time and we want to kinda reveal the character the pale one. Connor if included will be announcing deaths and disappearances of teenagers in the local area he will have to dress appropriately so he looks older than he does. He is a very good person to commit to succeeding in pulling off the character as he is good with voice and having a serious attitude when performing infront of the camera
actor: reece scottow aka pale one
Reece scottow our main man who came up with the idea had decided to put himself forward to become the mysterious character also know as the pale one. Reece didnt want to be recorded as he doesnt do well with performing but he volunteered in being the role as the pale one as he is the right height and size to fit the part and as he a very serious, skillful person he can pull of the effect which this extraordinary character will be doing throughout the scenes.
reece will be wearing a full costume which will cover his face which means when filmed you wont be able to see his face only the figure of him. This comes across as creepy and confusing to the fact that an object without a face keeps approaching which put the audience on there feet to figure out really who this figure appearing really is.
The opening two minutes will gradually fade into this setting of a bold bricked extraordinary structured council house where the main character charlotte lives with her mother. This building sticks out and can come across creepy during certain periods of the day such as night time. Its a simple house which working class people tend to go for, it gives off that the character isnt rich she is in a working class family and is the same as everyone else.
The house looks well kept and tidy which shows that the family are organised. There will be inside scene of this house for instance in the bedroom of charlotte which is located at the back of the house and then the sisters bedroom which is located at the front of the house which you can see. There may be scenes which are located in the hallway and downstairs but these are still ideas which need to be thought about. Throughout the film we will be returning back to this house as its a main priority of finding out more about the disappearance of the sister.
considered setting: crematorium
here is one of the places where we will be setting our scene its the leatherhead crematorium and its where the main character charlotte will be going to visit her sister. It is a very empty deserted place which looks mysterious and creepy we have chose here as it located near us and is easy access to sell to the audience that we are promoting a horror film. we have chosen a crematorium as its certain places where horror films tend to set there killing scenes or places which death has recently been. It fits with our storyline and it would really pull off the emotion which we are wanting to express.
actor: charlotte caunter (older sister)
charlotte caunter will be playing the role of the main character which we have also named charlotte. chosen charlotte to perform in our opening 2 minutes of our film the pale one because she was included in our preliminary task and she did extremely well acting and keeping in character.
I think from experiance of watching her from day to day life that she is extrememly funny and can play many roles that she has been told to play and can really connect with the character that she has to be. She also will appeal to our audience as she will be the same age our target audience will be and she is a very pretty girl that male audience may enjoy watching. the story instantly if she gives off the right vibre.
here is my bloody valentine i have chosen this as its one of my favourite films and to the fact that i enjoy it and the table states that the age range which this appeals to the most is 15-24 with a percentage of 35% i think that it is good because its jumpy and has a mysterious storyline which is hard to solve and the ending is a twist and you dont see it coming this is intreging and people enjoy that the trailer doesnt give much away. The gender which it appeals to more is women, to the fact that there are attractive young men which are always in the scene and that there is a romance which goes on. The class which it shows the be more toward is middle class.
here is the uninvited it states on the table that the age range which the film appeals to is between 15-24 it has a percentageof 42% than the rest are lower to the fact that teenagers and young adults like the thrill of things jumping out and scaring them which is what the film is filled with. The gender it appeals to it male i think that of the characters because the main characters are young attractive women and men enjoy that. Women sometimes dont tend to enjoy being on the edge of the seat in fear then men do. The class which it appeals to more is middle classed.
The omen - audience
here is omen it is a horror film which means that the age range which it will appeal for is between 15-24 as young people enjoy the thrill of being scared and expecting the unexpected. The gender which most likely will watch this film has been shown the be female than male this might have been on what the film influences and shows as there may be some romance and occasional jumpy scenes when males like shooting and blood and i dont think that omen has much of that in the film. The class that the film are most likely to go for is upper class as the time it was set and the characters included in it
Tuesday, 13 November 2012
one missed call is about group of people mainly young adults getting a phone off them on the phone on the day of there death and an image of a little girl appears i think that the audience and show above is right to be between 15-24 as young adults enjoy things like this and have more of an interest to go watch these things with friends as they enjoy being scared. older people enjoy more calm genres. The gender here is female which is different from the other ones i have analysed i think that the reason is the cast that is chosen are attractive young men which girls tend to want to watch. The class which have seen it more is middle class.
paranormal activity relates to our film as it has a supernatural image which appears randomly throughout the film and we have a supernatural character in ours which appears and disappears frequently. The audience age wise would most approximately be from 15-24 which is a smaller quantity than the film sinister. I think that it appeals to that age range as they enjoy the excitement and expecting the unexpected. The gender which will most likely go see this is male they have a percentage of 53 than female 47 as women would rather see a romantic or comedy film. The working class will be our target audience to attract they have the highest percentage. i think that the age range is this age because young adult or teenager enjoy watching thrilling films with there friends than a romantic or sci-fi film.
The film sinister is similar to our film that we will be creating, it helps us to understand who will be our audience. It shows me that the age range which we should be focusing on will be roughly between 15-34 as they are the highest quantity of people to have watched sinister than ages below or above it. For gender wise male audiences are more into horrors than female audiences which means that when promoting the opening 2 minutes we would need to find things which will attract male audiences. The type of class would probably be middle/upper class as they have a higher range.
sinister is shown to be very full on and very tense and dramatic which mean that the age rating will be a 15 or an 18 to what it contains during the film. This helps me see exactly who i will be promoting it to as they are very similar and we want to hit the exact target audience.

here is my mind map which is ideas for my opening two minutes such as what genre i want to use and setting where i am going to be filming it having a rough idea will help me than trying to think of it right on the spot. i have an idea of what we are going to be doing as it is similar to a vary of films but we will make ours original as we will have our own characters, brand new script and we will use our own local places.

Preliminary evaluation
the preliminary task had been shown to an audience which was our media class, they watched our whole clip and then gave us feedback on it. There was certain things which they looked out for to see such as editing, match on action, holding camera steady, shot reverse shot and camera angles. This was what we had to mainly focus on in our clip it didnt matter about the acting it was how we used the camera effectively.
there was alot of feedback which was mainly positive but there were a few situation which we can improve. they said that the room effect with securtiy camera was extremely effective as it changed the angle to a low angle and also change the way we was seeing the shot, the fact that the cctv camera came out well and matched it perfectly ment that our use of editing was good.
someone stated that we should have used effect while I was in the lift that just watching me go down dragged on and could have been experimented and twigged to improve it and bring a bit more attention but they said the close up with pushing the button was good as it brought attention to me as it showed that I was an important character.
camera was overall steady which was good as we tried to move camera around alot and it makes it more professional it being steady. they said that we need to take more risks and try out more angles than sticking to the easier ones. shot reverse shot was overall was used and that it worked well using it during the conversation as the conversation switched quickly from one character to another and it gave the person speaking main focus and stood them out.
match on action was used and that we did well but there were some occasions where could have cut it by a millisecond to prevent the clicking sound from stopping and starting the camera. they also said that they could see a person in the background that shouldnt have been there and if took more time that we could have prevented that.
180 degree rule was used alot but there had been times where we crossed the line which we should have catched up on and changed to prevent it being shown in the final footage. 180 degree rule worked well when walking to the place and during the conversation. if crossing the line during conversation it would have confused the audience which we didnt so it went really well.
they liked the angles we used for each shot but wish we used a more variety than sticking to the same ones. overall it went well and gonna use the feedback to help us with our opening two minutes. we also need to improve the sound as it was too high and it caused the sound of the door to be high pitch and squeeky which wasnt nice for the audience when watching it.

premilinary task- research and planning
story board
we use the story board to plan preliminary task. we had a box which we used to draw out an image which we was going to record. we showed different angle shots on each drawing and below that box we wrote out how long that shot was going to last for. It then contained more boxes which we would included the dialogue for each section, the sound and which angle we chose to use in that part. we showed a variety of angles throughout and allowed a good amount of time to show it.
we did very well with chosing the right angle for certain shots.
we started off with a story board located in the art department but came to realise that it wasnt effective and wouldnt work well so we scrapped that and decided to choose a different location where we could expand the angles more.
film diary
we decided to set the task in st johns as there were many levels that we could use. we started off with a middle shot of me walking towards the camera in a corridor approaching the lift. that was recorded for about 8 seconds then we stopped the recording and chose a close up shot of me pressing the button on the lift this gave effect and focus on the subject, that was recorded for about 4 seconds.
The camera was then located inside the lift as I entered the lift this showed 180 degree rule, then it was then moved over to over shoulder shot of me in the lift then moving out the lift. The camera was stopped and then started again of what me walk out of the lift from infront of me so i was walking towards the camera. this gave a vibe of a presence watching me. We deicded to use a high angle shot in view of a cctv camera which gave it more interest and better appearance, this gave great effect.
CCTV camera was filmed for about 8 seconds which then was changed to a middle angle shot of me opening the door and entering. The camera gave an appearance of me walking past it as i carry on to the second door which we use the same angle and stay on the same side to stick to the 180 degree rule. The camera is shown to be infront of me so i am walking towards the camera but at the end up walk straight past the camera instead. The low angle shot has been chosen for the next shot as it watched me walked down the steps gradually moving closer. Then the camera moved to a middle angle shot watching me sit down. Then the camera moved in seconds to over my shoulder while you watched Charlotte walked down the stair then we should the 180 rule through the discussion as I spoke it was be shown from over Charlotte shoulder and over my shoulder when she replied. This went on for some time until the conversation was finished as you watched Charlotte
Storm of you stay a distance still looking over my shoulder and when she leave through the door to give it affect the camera appears on the other side watching her come out and storm past the camera Down the corridor I think that it worked very effectively had to give it some takes to make sure that we stuck to the 180 rule.
editing
we went on to adobe premiere elements 10 and began to edit our footage our final footage had 3 minutes as we had made some errors which we were going to cut, it took an hour or so to sort it out, we removed the extra parts that werent needed and made sure that each section carried on exactly in the following shot we managed to reduce it to approxiametly 1 minute and 35 seconds. we then added a edit that made the shot with the cctv camera look like a cctv camera which worked very effectively. we made the video a lot more smooth by making the shots flow together and transition better.

dirty dancing
dirty dancing one of my favorite films is a genre of romance. It is a very old fashioned film but does really express love between two different classes.
It starts off with black and white film of couples dancing to music sexually while the cast list appears on the screen as red which connotes love. The first couple which appear on the screen a close together dancing and are gazing into eachothers eyes which shows the passion and love they have for eachother. They express there love through a certain dance. It fades in and out of different shots which are shown slowly and calmly to fit the mood that they are trying to get across to the audience to give them an understand of what genre this film is. The face expressions on some people are witty and excited they are showing emotion of happiness and enjoyment this get the audience in a good mood and follow on watching.
Dirty dancing title appears fitting the entire screen and has a elegant posh font and is shown in pink a feminine colour and heartwarming colour this shows us and the audience who the target audience will be appealing to, females. Females are the common audience that will go out and watching a romantic film. The women has who has her leg up when dancing slowly moving her hand down her leg shows a sexually action and may attract male audience and can show us that there is sexual scenes in the film to the fact they have already shown something sexual that wont usually appear in children films. Which means that the audience age certificate will be a 15 to the images that may come across as too appealing.
They include black people in the film which show that they arent rascist and in this time black people are the same as white people and any other race. The movement and behaviour between the male and females during the dancing is very intimate and you can see the compassion and love that they are trying to express to the audience. Another partner the male leans the women over and flings her about and they show excitment and careless fun. Brings the right mood to the movie and bring a good vibe.
Then the song stop which is played during that minute and the radio begins as it continues the same scene then it changes when a song begins to play and a old fashioned car which is new in the period of time it was filmed trying on the road and zooming past the camera. Then you are introduces to a young attractive teenage girl which will appeal to young male audience as they will enjoy watching a female as she is the main character

I have chosen to analyse Saw the first one it is a extremely successful film from the amount of things which are shown in the scene and the opening scene really works well on setting the mood and catching the audiences eye.
It stars the film with a the cast list appearing amoungst a black background and after 2 seconds of the cast list it appears with a dark scene with a light only catching a glimps of someone who seems to be underwater. The sounds are heavy and dark like they are trying to breath under water and are struggle to grab air this shows stress and frustration to the character which is being shown on the screen at the moment.
The title appears blue like its in water and it slowly fades away during this course of events the music continues slow and draining sounds creeping and suspicous. The pace of the recorded footage has slown down to emphaysis the thing which is moving around in the dark it allows the audience to try and figure out what they are looking at. . All of the sudden the man which was underneath the water comes gasping out the water in shock and confusion. You can understand that he is clueless to whats happened to the fact he is breathing heavily and it shows us that he has been forced into something.
You suddenly see it disappear down a drain or something its vague and hard to tell this ies because they have made sure its hard to see to confuse you and make you question the things which have happened you can tell aswell as it lightens up which is edited to make it stand out as it is a key item which will be there for a purpose and the audience will have more of an understand later on in the film.
He lifts himself out to what is to appear to be a bath which is unusual and weird as he is wearing his clothes this shows that someone else is involved to why he has ended up where he is. He ends up landing on the floor and gasping and moaning like he has been kept underneath there for a while this puts worry into the audience face. As he lifts himself up you hear a gingling sound and as he understands that his being prevented moving about he follows the sound of the gingling and comes across that he is chained to the wall by his foot. He begins on panicking and we can identify that by him shouting frantically into the complete darkness 'help' it shows that he isnt caring about anything except escaping and having a idea of what situation he is in.
all of a sudden a low masculine voice replies to his frantic crying and you can tell from the pitch of the mans voice that he understand that they are stuck but the man who came out the bath has a hight pitch voice as he is shown to be more childish and vunerable character to the fact he is showing his fear to the man and the audience.

titanic is a romantic film about a love story between two types of classes upper class and higher class and they are travelling to together and they both experiance what eachother lifes are like through the time of travelling.
here it shows it introducing the main subject which is the titanic which is the boat the one of the biggest ones made. It then shows a crowd of people waving goodbye to the ones that are on it and the atmosphere is crazy. The music played is calm and heart warming which sinks the audience in and intreges them as they know what genre the film will be. The camera composition is middle shot which means it gets everything in which means there is a variety of things going on to keep the audience appealed and intreged to watch on.
they have then taken a shot from a low angle and from a person perspective watching the people sail away and the waving and shouting of people around them. It shows that in the time that it was set that travelling was very rare and that it was mainly for certain class. The shot of the person filming the boat setting off showed that it was a important event to have been witnessed that in the time new things were being invented and sailing on a boat this big has only just happened and it was a rare mount in time. The music continues to proceed calm and relaxed. When the camera moves its slow and steady watching every moment from the people as possible. Shows care and curiosity which is what the audience will be thinking.
here it shows people on the boat waving goodbye, there a range of people shown. The outfits are very modern and smart and very posh the hats and the suits signifies that they were upper class and extremely happy and sucessful. It showed the audience that the film would be set in a time before which peope had not been familar with. This ment that there would be different laws and treatment such as power and equality. It would be intreging to some people to watch what it was like back in those days.
the title then appeared amoungst a dark blue sea which slowly moved about behind the title. The title was bold and white. This showed purity and importance as it stood out and looked very persuasive. The font was very old fashioned which related to the scenary of the film. It fades away like its disappearing into the water which could link to the film. Then the music gets then a blue light appears and a sound which gets louder as it gets closer a machine with lights comes past and informs the audience that they are underwater searching for something which sends them into curiosity and hooks them in.
the last ten seconds of the clip is you watching the machines go further into the water as the music softens the mood and they disappear the music gradually fades along with it, really sets the scene well.
