adventure

pirates of the caribbean is a adventure film which come across to a massive target audience. It is very intreging opening 2 minutes which really hooks the audience in to the story. It starts with a ship which has shown that the film isnt set in this period of time and must be approxiametly in 1800 to the costumes and props used in the first opening 2 minutes. The ship vague and is shown to be mysterious and creepy to the fact its surrounded by thick fog which is above the dark gloomy sea, they slowly bring this into it to bring effect and suspense.  They use low drowning type music to fit the scene of the hidden ship gradually coming out of the darkness.

The ship gets to the extent of it coming to a perspective of filming up all the space of the picture and it give tension to how close it will get to the camera. It moves past the boat slowly with the sounds remaining and a small figure of a person hidden in the background because of the darkness and gloomyness of the atmosphere of the setting they have used. It slowly gets closer and then a soft sound of a young girls voice begins to sing.

They use a young girl called elizabeth a very formal name for a young girl of this age start the film by singing this shows her to  be an adventurous girl who is brave and intreging show is shown to be clueless a and as she is singing the camera gradually gets closer to her so people understand who exactly she is. she very young and elegant, shows that she is upper class for the way she is presented. She has a formal gown on very expensive in those times. her hair is all curled and pinned to perfection. The camera shot changes to creeping up behind her. She is singing about pirates and it hints that there will be an appearance of them for her mentioning it in the beginning. A sudden grubby manly hand comes in view of the camera as it grabs the shoulder of the innocent little girl and she makes a gasping sound in complete confusion.

The man comes across as rude and arrogant and shows that he is lower than her to his outfit is less presentable. Conflict is accuring between another male and it shows the respect and equality between classes. Man is present behind the other man which indicates that he is important and is a  main character. the camera angle changes when the man walks past him its a low angle which shows that we are looking up at him as he is a powerful character and is important. there use 180 degree rule and use high and low angle to signify class. camera zooms in on the little girl called elizabeth who has a frightened face expression which signifies that something is about to occur.

He makes a comment about that its bad luck to have a women on board a ship which signifies power of men and women at this time to the fact men are shown to be dominate and better than women and women are controlled by there fellow  man. Elizabeth is address by her last name which shows her power in class in the film that she is high class which means that you can tell what type of person she will be like in the film to the fact she is already achieving respect at such a young age.

Then camera then shows the water and an object gradually moving closer this brings tension and suddenly you realise that is her umbrella which is hitting against the boat. They used a slow music which fits the mood of elizabeths feelings and emotion at this point she is interested and curious about what had been floating in the water. As she leans to admire it as she turns her head carelessly and casual she notices a raft with a boy on it. This put reader on there feet as they are curious to what happened and want to get straight to the point.
